Router / Evaluation method
Breakage Life
Tool life is evaluated by measuring the routed distance, at the point of tool failure (Destructive Test).
Swarf Evacuation
Evaluated by measuring the routed distance to the point where signs of swarf become visible in the routed slot.
Tool Diameter Reduction
Evaluated after routing, by measuring the diameter from the optional point of the bit point.
Routing Dimension Accuracy
A tool diameter offset is applied, based on the measured diameter of the NEW router bit before use. A 20mm square test piece is routed out (anti-clockwise) and the material is "clipped out" for measurement.

| Routed out anti-clockwise test piece. | Test piece is clipped out from the substrate, the length and width are measured with the microscope, and the parameter accuracy is investigated. |
| Calculation Formula Routing Dimension Accuracy = (W1 + W2) / 2 Tool Bending Amount = [20 - (W1 + W2) / 2] / 2 |

Burring
Burring is evaluated by routed distance until signs of burring occur, as which point distance routed and size and amount of burr are controlled.

Routed Surface Roughness
The routed surface roughness is evaluated by a visual check.
The roughness can also be measured by a surface roughness test machine, if required, for precise values.
